In 1983, Casio engineer Kikuo Ibe embarked on a mission: to create a watch that could withstand almost anything. Frustrated by the ease with which traditional watches broke, he and his team tested hundreds of prototypes – dropping, twisting, and running over them – until the first G-Shock was finally developed.
